SUMMARY:Mindfulness in Theory and Practice — with Ven. Upali Sraman
DESCRIPTION:A one-week retreat drawing together teachings on mindfulness from across the Buddhist traditions\, with a particular grounding in the Theravada. The format balances study\, structured practice and solitary contemplation. \nMornings open with around two hours of reading from selected texts paired with guided meditation; afternoons are left free for optional silent practice; and the group reconvenes in the evening for roughly an hour of practice and chanting together. \nDr. Upali Sraman received his Ph.D. in Religion from Emory University. Born in Bangladesh\, he completed his undergraduate degree in Sanskrit at the University of Peradeniya\, an MA in Buddhist Studies at the Sri Lanka International Buddhist Academy\, and an MDiv in Buddhist Ministry at Harvard. His research focuses on Buddhist narratives\, ethics\, and texts in Pali\, Sanskrit and Tibetan. \nOpen to practitioners of all backgrounds\, with morning teaching sessions and guided afternoon practice. \n  \nPlease click here to register
