Supporting our local community and environment
Gomde Scotland sits within a rewilded forest landscape in the Highlands, and caring for this land is woven into everything we do here.
We manage the property sustainably and organically, paying attention to what the land needs and giving native species room to return. The rewilding work here is slow and ongoing, and we think that’s as it should be.
We keep our footprint light where we can — renewable energy, low-impact choices in daily operations, and a general preference for working with the land’s own rhythms.

Gathering together
Once a year we host an All Sangha Day, inviting Buddhist practitioners from across the region whatever their lineage or tradition. It’s a chance to practise together, share a meal, and spend time in good company. Gomde has always taken a non-sectarian approach, and this day reflects that.

Working on the land together
Our volunteer days are an open invitation to come and help tend the grounds — planting, habitat work, or just turning up and seeing what needs doing. No experience necessary. Good work, good company, and the satisfaction of leaving a place a little better than you found it.
We also have a longstanding interest in traditional plant and herbal knowledge — the healing traditions that have long been part of Himalayan culture and that connect naturally to the plants and landscape here.
Gomde Scotland is here for the local community — to practise, to gather, to work on the land, or simply to spend time somewhere quiet and cared for.
