What to bring to Gomde

Gomde sits in woodland, so a little preparation goes a long way towards keeping you warm, dry, and comfortable during your stay. The setting is beautiful but rustic, and the weather can turn chilly even in summer — please pack with that in mind.

Clothing Bring plenty of casual, comfortable layers, and clothes you don’t mind getting dirty, as there’s outdoor and practical work involved. Warm jumpers are essential, along with long trousers and warm socks for the cooler days and evenings. A good set of raingear will make all the difference if the weather closes in.

Footwear Sturdy boots are a must, both for the tall grass around the grounds and for staying dry underfoot. We’d also recommend packing shower shoes (flip-flops or similar) — some of the bathrooms and showers are shared and separate from your accommodation, so you’ll want something for the walk across.

Ticks As we’re in woodland, we do occasionally have ticks, particularly in the longer grass. Long trousers tucked into socks, boots, and a habit of checking yourself at the end of the day are the best precautions.

Connectivity Please be prepared to be largely offline. We have wifi in the common areas, but mobile signal is almost non-existent across the site, so let family and friends know in advance.
